Plaster is falling down, loud noises are heard in the empty old 3 storey house; the setting of Alan Ayckbourn’s 1979 play which he describes as his ‘only real classic farce’. We meet Elizabeth, whom is at a crossroads with her unappreciative, alcoholic husband Roland, Elizabeth’s brother, Mark and his girlfriend Kitty, Leslie the landlord who is also the dodgy builder and Tristram, Roland’s poor excuse of a solicitor. As the play unfolds we see that it is not only the house thats collapsing but their relationships are also crumbling away. Their selfish ways results in them getting their ‘just deserts’ some more deserving than the others.
